An accomplished international actor, director, teacher & playwright, with 40+ years of professional experience, Molly Lyons has performed in such N American theatres as: La Jolla Playhouse, New Mexico Rep, Seattle Rep, St Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, Kennedy Center; internationally in British Columbia & Ontario, Canada Ireland & T’bilisi Georgia.
As an actor, some of Molly's favorite roles include: Anna - The Standby Lear, Hillary Clinton - Consolation, Ellie-Sweet Texas Reckoning, Cabdriver-Hellcab, Paola-Chewing On Beckett, Titania-A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nurse-Romeo and Juliet, Beatrice-Much Ado About Nothing, Feste & Maria-Twelfth Night, Cassandra-House of Atreus, Mary-Mary of Scotland, Anna Petrovna-Ivanov, Louka-Arms & the Man, Nora-A Doll’s House, Helena-A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Beline-The Imaginary Invalid.
Molly has directed such shows as: A Life in the Theatre, Angels Fall, On the Verge, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Barber of Seville, Magic Flute, Carmen, The Foreigner, Diary of Anne Frank, The Clearing, an award-winning Glass Menagerie. During the pandemic, Molly adapted works of Shakespeare related to the plague, called The Time Is Out of Joint, performed as a Zoom production with The Winding Road Theatre Ensemble.
Molly is very proud of her work on new plays and with playwrights in the development of their work.
Molly’s original play, A Most Notorious Woman, based on the last Irish queen, Granuaile (Grace O’Malley), has toured internationally–including a command performance in Ireland for the O’Malley Chieftain and clan.
Molly’s education includes: Santa Clara University, California Institute of the Arts. Molly Lyons' other training includes: opera staging, directing, writing, improvisation, combat and more, with such organizations as: Second City, Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare & Co., Original London Shakespeare Workout and instructors such as: Libby Appel, Gary Austin, Robert Benedetti, Julian Curry, Carol Fox-Prescott, Michael Gellman, Ted Hoerl, Rob O'Neill, Steve Scott, Patrick Stewart and more.
Molly is Artistic Director of the Green Wood Studios, teaches her workshops internationally; produces Actors’ International Retreat Experience.
Now based in Tucson, Molly has performed & taught internationally for many years and is now thrilled to make her home in such a stunning city & vibrant arts community.
